Dear Member,
With Christmas approaching, the results from our new-look MNCA being run on a one day a week basis from my Wymondham office continue to go from strength to strength. A new record has been set with membership doubling since March, with the exciting opportunity to keep on increasing the membership over the months and years ahead.
With the new set up, we have a real chance now to keep on reaching out to more voters and put the MNCA back at the heart of local life, championing our Conservative achievements locally. We are also re-launching the Westminster Patrons Club and will be setting up a Mid Norfolk Business Form, so do watch this space.
Indeed, with the forthcoming County Elections, it is more important than ever that we continue to get our message out there and ensure that we keep the County Council under Conservative control. As we saw with the recent by-election in Witney, the Liberal Democrats are attempting to stage a resurgence across the country, using the Referendum result to divide the electorate. In our patch, we cannot afford to be complacent about a lack of opposition, with the ever-present threat of a Lib Dem revival.
At such an important time for our country, and with Labour in increasing disarray, it is vital that we reassure people that this Conservative Government will fight for the best deal for Britain, listening to the concerns of business and industry while delivering on the pledges set out in the Prime Minister’s landmark Conference speech to create an economy and society that truly works for everyone, resisting the politics of division and uniting our country around a positive agenda for implementing Brexit.
In my new role as Chair of the Prime Minister’s Policy Board, I have been busy working on this agenda, championing the concerns of Norfolk and the wider Eastern region at the heart of Number 10 and ensuring our voice is listened to on key issues like ongoing investment in digital infrastructure, planning reform and upgrading our roads and rail services.
As we head towards the County Council elections, it is important to remember how much we have achieved together; and, with our re-launched MNCA operation, how much more we can achieve over the coming years. If you are planning any fund raising events this winter, please do let Hilary and I know, I’d be delighted to come along.
If by any chance I don’t see you in Mid Norfolk in the next few weeks I hope you all have a very happy Christmas and New Year and please let me know if I can do anything to help, or if you have any feedback for me, I’d love to hear from you.
Yours,
George
