From Sir David Amess:
I have been a Member of Parliament since 1983, and in that time I have been lucky enough to witness many extraordinary events and to meet many fascinating people in British politics. I have recently published a book called Ayes and Ears: A Survivor’s Guide to Westminster where I review the major scandals and events during my time in Parliament and reveal the inner workings of Britain’s most important institution.
On Thursday 29th July at 6pm I am holding an event where two Members of Parliament, Heather Wheeler (MP for South Derbyshire) and James Wild (MP for North West Norfolk), will be interviewing me about the book and my life in politics. The event is taking place on YouTube, is free to watch and will remain available after the event. On the evening, there will be a live chat where I will be answering questions.
All royalties from the book are being split between three charities close to my heart:
- The Music Man Project, run by the inspirational David Stanley, teaches music to people with learning difficulties and has staged performances at the London Palladium and the Royal Albert Hall.
- Prost8, a charity aiming to promote early detection and treatment of prostate cancer.
- Endometriosis UK, which provides support and guidance for women suffering from this debilitating condition
I would be very grateful if you could circulate the details with your members. Please find below a link to the event:

With all best wishes, Yours sincerely, Sir David Amess MP
